Vicente Huidobro was an important poet chilean. He was born in Santiago city 10 January 1893. Vicente García-Huidobro belonged to a aristocratic family of the chilean society. The Poet received his first formal education in French institutions. When, he entered to Trinity College and finally to San Ignacio College of the Jesus Company. In 1910 started in the old Instituto Pedagógico at the Universidad de Chile, but he didn't finish his studies.
In Middle of the accelerating globalization social-economics and cultural in those times, Huidobro made a discourse that criticized to the society even when he was part of a family with a lot of privileges. His literary life passed between the urbanization of aristocratic Santiago and París. He had two artistic forms of expression : artistic avant-gardes and revolution through the literature.
In the years 30´s Huidobro developed a relation deeply between the literature and the political engagement, reflected in his work " Non Serviam" . This work was his first "Manifiesto"; here was proposed the called "creationism", It mean a critical to realism.
Their literary production was made of:
- The novels "Mío Cid Campeador" (1929)
- The "Poema Altazor" (1931)
- "Gilles de Raíz" (1932)
- "Manifiestos" (1925)
And Others.
The poet received a prize in New York by "The League for Better Motion Pictures", besides he founded the "Acción" Magazine and the newspaper "Purificación Nacional"
Finally the great Vicente Huidobro died in January of 1948 ( 54 years old) together with his third wife, in Cartagena, Chile.
I love this poet because their work is principally a critical to Society and a sample of passion and total delivery.
I prefer Nicanor Parra haha but he is great too
